A research report from the Tow Center for Digital Journalism provides a recent history and current best-practices in the space of data and computational journalism, based on dozens of interviews with industry leaders.

One of the data journalism examples included in the report is InfoAmazonia, a mash-up of open data, maps, and storytelling that enables people to explore how the rainforest of Brazil is changing, supported by a partnership between Internews and the International Center for Journalists.

Another example used is Land Quest, launched by Internews in Kenya to increase the capacity of Kenyan journalists to report on international development and private financing.
