Internews’ five-year project (2006-2010) provided some of the only in-country training, technical assistance and support to the media sector in Ethiopia. Internews developed and delivered tailored training for journalists, editors, government PR professionals and health implementers. The Federal Ministry of Health said that the partnership with Internews directly contributed to more constructive engagement with the media.
Internews trained and mentored hundreds of journalists across all media platforms and achieved a number of firsts including an exhibition and book featuring photo essays by five professional news journalists and the first TV journalism training for the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency (ERTA). Other highlights included HIV reporting curriculum for Addis Ababa University’s Department of Journalism.
